Book and lyrics by Kodie Rollan; music and lyrics by Alixandra Cowman. Directed by Kodie Rollan and Jenna Rodgers. Inspired by the folk tale of Saint Nicholas and the Evil Butcher, this new folk musical follows three young elves who escape a murderous butcher, only to find themselves hunted in a town where prejudice outweighs justice, and where the legend that outlives them may not be the truth. Told around a campfire with folk, country and pop-influenced songs and eerie puppetry. A co-production by Chromatic Theatre and Handsome Alice Theatre.
Content advisory: Contains racism, xenophobia, anti-immigrant rhetoric, racist slurs, violence, mention and portrayal of bodily dismemberment, cannibalism, religious trauma and misuse of religious text. Production uses flashing lights and haze.
